When a walker undertakes a marathon like the LSW it is important that they receive all the back-up possible. Not many people can undertake a 40 mile walk without the aid of some support.
The LSW provides this for you!
We have a number of teams all with set duties to perform.
We supply first aid cover in the form of the St John Ambulance.
We ensure that we have excellent communications between teams to ensure all walkers are accounted for. In 2006 this will be supplied to us by the Bassetlaw Raynet group.
In 2006, there are 6 teams in total - 4"static" teams and 2 "floating" teams all strategically placed along the route.
Their basic function is to water, feed & encourage walkers to complete the route.
They carry supplies for the walkers and, frankly, pamper them on arrival at their particular checkpoints.
MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT THIS - most walkers could not possibly complete this trek without their help. They do a fantastic job.............................ask anyone who has done the walk!
